Relocate to Denver!

November 28, 2018 By Steve Jacobson

Where are the new residents of Denver, CO relocating from?

Written by  Kath Johnson

April 18, 2018

The population of the Denver-Aurora-Lakewood, CO metropolitan statistical area is on the rise.

From 2010 to 2016, the metro area grew from 2,554,864 to 2,853,077, an increase of 298,213 residents. This increase of 11.7% makes the region the #28 fastest growing MSA over that period, and the 7 fastest growing area with a base population of over a million.

Certainly some of the population growth can be attributed to birth rate, but where are all the other people coming from?

An additional Census study, released last week, gives us some answers. The recent study reveals data about metro-to-metro migration trends over the course of 2011 to 2015.

To learn more, our research analysts teamed up with moving service Bellhops Denver to analyze the new Census data. In the graphic below, we dive into which areas are sending residents to Denver, where the area is losing residents to, and how demographics differ between new movers and existing residents.
